SURABAYA – PT Optima Prima Metal Sinergi Tbk (OPMS), a specialist in scrapping old ships, held an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) to approve changes in its board of directors. This change is expected to bring fresh energy to advance the company.

"This EGMS is held to appoint a new director to replace Mr. Hendry, who has resigned without granting discharge and release of responsibility (Acquit et Decharge)," said Adhiguna on Thursday (19/12/2024). As his replacement, Sukianto Widjaja has been appointed as the new director of the company.

"Sukianto Widjaja is no stranger to OPMS. He is the co-founder of the company and has made significant contributions, including during the time when OPMS recorded a turnover of IDR 119 billion in 2018 and successfully went public on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2019," Adhiguna added.

Sukianto stated that his future focus will be on maximizing revenue in the steel trading sector while exploring new business opportunities aligned with government programs. One of these initiatives includes leveraging the company’s assets to support food security programs through collaborations with local communities and cooperatives in Madura Island.

With Sukianto's appointment, the current composition of OPMS's board of directors and commissioners is as follows:

• President Commissioner: Sumardi Wijaya
• Independent Commissioner: Adhiguna Abdhipradhana Herwindha
• President Director: Meilyna Widjaja
• Director: Sukianto Widjaja
• Director: Rubbyanto (Ping Hauw) Handjaja

Although the company recorded a revenue of IDR 34.8 billion up to the third quarter of 2024, it still faces challenges with a loss of IDR 5.2 billion, an increase from the same period last year. However, with the new management, OPMS is optimistic about regaining its glory as a hub for trading scrap metal and base metals for the construction and infrastructure sectors.

OPMS also plans to expand operations by capitalizing on opportunities in the strategic metal trading sector. Additionally, the company is developing new partnerships to support national infrastructure development programs, which are expected to drive sustainable performance improvements.
